Hope for Leogane is a 501(C3) non-profit initiative established to help the children of Leogane, Haiti attend school on a regular basis.  Leogane was the epicenter of the earthquake which devastated Haiti in 2010.  Homes, schools and churches were destroyed.  The people, to this day, are struggling to rebuild their lives, and children often go without attending school regularly.

Currently, it costs about $600 per year to send a child to school. Children attend various schools in the area, and there are always those that we just can't help.  In 2018, almost 250 children were placed in area schools.  Our goal now is to build a school for the students to attend, which can provide for even more of our children and families.

All funds donated to Hope for Leogane go directly to the school; no donations are used for anything but tuition.  All time and supplies needed to do this great work are accomplished by willing volunteers in Florida and Haiti.  Through the 2018 fundraising appeal "40 for 40", the funds to purchase the land for the school for these children were raised, and the land was purchased.  Now we have started our fundraising campaign to begin construction of the school at this site.

This organization is spearheaded by Fr. Jean Boulin, who is originally from Leogane.  In high school, God called Jean to the priesthood, but instead of formation in Haiti, God surprised Jean by moving him to South Florida. After attending high school in Belle Glade, FL, and St. John Vianney Seminary in Miami, FL, Jean was sent to Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, LA.  In 2004, Father Jean was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Palm Beach.

Although Fr. Jean has not lived in Haiti for many years, he has not forgotten his roots.  Through the years, he has journeyed many times each year, to help raise money and supplies for Leogane, focusing especially on education for the children.  It is his hope that by starting Hope for Leogane, he will be able to help more children realize their full potential through education.
